BC Commuter Challenge: TEAM MODO, Day 2
Team captain Mona Benjamintz checks in with some stats on TEAM MODO’s progress in the Commuter Challenge competition this week:
Monday afternoon, there were less than 20 people registered for the Team Modo commuter challenge team; of those 20, seven had logged trips.
As of 10am Tuesday morning, we’ve got: 32 people registered, with 16 logging trips – for a total of 547 kilometres logged, over 7,700 calories burned, 47 litres of fuel saved and 92 kg of CO2 avoided.
A breakdown of the trips we’ve logged:
- cycling = 39%
- walking = 3%
- transiting = 43%
- carpooling with 2-3 persons in the car = 15%
According to the national Commuter Challenge Twitter feed, more than 10,000 Canadians have registered to participate this week. The provincial convener for the competition, B.E.S.T., reports that British Columbia was in second place by 5:30pm on Monday, behind Manitoba.
