Windscreen chips and cracks:
All windscreens (or windshields for North Americans!) in our Modo vehicles are continuously monitored to make sure that the driver’s view of the road is not affected by any damage of the glass. If you discover any permanent damage like a chip on the windscreen, report it to our Member Loyalty Team immediately.
When does a Chip or Crack need repair?
Modo fleet technicians will assess the damage and determine the extent of the repair. Chips to the outer glass layer which are small enough to be covered by a dime are sealed when possible or simply noted with a nearby sticker.
Any minor scratches and chips are also noted and, when possible, sealed to prevent ingress of water which can freeze and cause cracks to appear. Major cracks that extend for several centimeters (inches) call for the replacement of the windscreen.
The following table shows images of chips with their maximum size, any bigger crack means that we have to replace the windscreen.
