Guest Post: “I’m a proud Modo member” by Norman Armour

This year, Modo is once again the official transportation sponsor for the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival. The following is from the desk of Norman Armour, PuSh Creative and Executive Director.

I am a proud member of Modo.

Sound like the intro to a commercial? Well it is… of a sort. I prefer endorsement.

Truth be told, I haven’t been a member for that long. Just over two months or so, and further truth be told, it’s not from “choice” as much as it was from necessity.

My car died. The transmission was fired and rather than fork out $1,500 to repair it, I donated the car to the Diabetes Association (which left me with a good feeling), and I recently got a tax receipt in the mail for $300. So, I was left with no vehicle of my own for the first time in many, many years.

Now I can certainly walk to work – with my long legs and quick gait, it’s a healthy 20 minutes exercise. But to travel across town, or on errands, or perhaps out to the suburbs and back, and the like? Well that’s where I count on Modo.

I believe in local brands. I know it’s a growing “trend” (read somewhat “trendy”) but the fact is that going local is a good thing; and yes, it also leaves a good feeling. Add to the fact that Modo is a good old co-operative… well, now we’re talking.

I strongly urge you to check them out. Or ask a friend or colleague who is a member. I promise, you will not be disappointed. Modo is personable.  Modo is economical. Modo is Vancouver bred and thriving.

I liked Modo so much I became a member and now own a piece of it. PuSh likes Modo so much they’re our official Transportation Partner. And we are darn proud of it.
