Modo Accessibility Van (#521) now at Vancouver City Hall
You may have heard the news through our Twitter account, and today we’re making it official: Modo has added an accessible van to our fleet!
This is a first for our fleet and we’re very excited to offer it to our members. Comfortably seating four passengers plus a wheelchair user, Modo’s Accessibility Van is located at our City Hall Parking Lot location, at Cambie and Broadway, just above the Broadway-City Hall Canada Line station.
The van uses a folding ramp and rear entrance for wheelchair users, which includes tie-down straps. Detailed instructions can be found on our website at modo.coop/accessibility. We hope to add more of these vehicles in the near future to increase access to carsharing for everyone in Metro Vancouver.
The Modo Accessibility Van is located in the City Hall parking lot, above the Broadway-City Hall Canada Line Station.
Where will we go?
With our Accessibility Van placed in such a central location, there are several options for trips. Here’s a few ideas to get you thinking how this vehicle could get you, your friends or family where they want to go:
- Athletes can head out to the Richmond Oval for training or recreational leagues. It’s also the home of the 2014 International Wheelchair Rugby Canada Cup!
- The Cypress Provincial Park is a beautiful place to spend a summer day, and has some accessible, low-grade trails that meander through an alpine old growth lake system.
- Trip out east to Port Moody, The City of the Arts to take in some of their fantastic events, including their summer annual Art in the Garden Tour.
We’re curious where you’ll go with Modo so if you happen to snap a photo or two on your trip, share them with our Twitter or Facebook!
