Guest Post: Modo to the Market
Modo Ambassador Charmaine is a new driver and recently started carsharing with Modo in Victoria. In this guest post, get the low down on what’s happening at the Moss Street Market.
Moss Street Market — rain or shine!
On a cold, blustery October morning, Moss Street Market at the Sir James Douglas School yard in Victoria is just a short Modo trip away. That’s exactly where I went this Thanksgiving weekend and, for good measure, I picked up a friend along the way to join me. A snazzy red 2017 Toyota Prius is now conveniently parked right in the View Street parkade!
First stop was the fabulous fair-trade, locally-roasted Level Ground Trading hot coffee stall. Then we hit up the line for the incredible, locally-baked goods. Croissants and focaccia, and danishes, oh my! Absolutely worth the few minutes in line.
We then cruised through the massive and colourful produce stalls stretching as far as the eye could see. I picked up a big bundle of local, organic carrots to make for my family’s Thanksgiving dinner for just $5! I love that they also have beer, wine and spirits vendors, too. It’s such a great way to connect with local breweries, wineries and distilleries right where you pick up your local cheeses, jams and veggies too.
In proper Moss Street Market-style, I bumped into some friends — a great reminder of how markets are hubs of community in every sense of the word.
Starting in November, the market moves indoors at their same location for all the same great eats, treats and produce all winter long. To learn more, check out the Market’s homepage.
With Modo, I can go to markets near or far and support local vendors any time of year!
