My Tip of the Month: Avoid paying a damage fee with Modo’s insurance options
Through our plan with ICBC, our member’s damage fee ranges from $1,000-$2,500 which means if you’re in an accident, you could be charged up to these amounts to cover any damages. But there are two simple ways to avoid paying damage fees.
Enrolling in the Damage Pool reduces your damage fee to $0 should you be involved in an accident, including at-fault accidents. The Damage Pool is optional—it costs $50 annually and expires after being used in the event of an accident.
It costs $50 to re-enrol after an accident. The Damage Pool coverage includes trucks and cargo vans. Members must be enrolled in the Damage Pool prior to an accident. Business accounts, members using a Member Eligibility Declaration form to demonstrate eligibility, Green Members and members who have been in an accident with a cost to Modo that exceeded $1,000 during the preceding two years, are not eligible to join the Damage Pool.
Collision Loss Damage Insurance (CLDI):
By paying with a credit card that offers Collision Loss Damage Insurance (CLDI), Modo charges the damage fee directly to the insurer. Please check with your credit card company if you qualify. CLDI does not cover trucks and cargo vans.
