My Tip of the Month: What to do when your Modo parking spot is not available!
When I first moved into the East 5th and Scotia neighbourhood 14 years ago, parking was a plenty. Since new condo buildings have gone up yearly, parking has become scarce. Having firsthand experience with not being able to park in the original spot, here are my tips on parking away from the cars home.
Tip 1: Street parking
If your designated spot or area is not available, find the nearest legal* spot.
*Modo cars can park for free in any permit or resident-only zone in the City of Vancouver. We also have preferred parking spots at Grouse Mountain, Mount Seymour and and IKEA Coquitlam. But yes, you still have to pay at the meter.
Please take note of the exact location by identifying
- are you on the North, South, East or West side of the street
- the Street Name
- a building number if possible
- any other identifying information
Finally, to avoid a late night/early morning call from Modo looking for the car, call us at 604-685-1393 to relay this information to staff or our after hours service, so the next member can find their Modo. You can reach Modo by phone 24/7 so don’t hesitate to call!
Tip 2: Parkade parking
This one can be tricky as each parkade or lot has it’s own set of rules. Your best bet — check the location notes in your confirmation email, or on the app when you tap your Trips tab, for parking notes. And if you can’t find the answer you need, call Modo at 604-685-1393 — we will work with you to find a solution!
Tip 3: Leave yourself time
Keep your trip stress free and make sure you have some time at the end of your booking to park the car!
