1. Aurora Winter Festival

Date: November 23rd – December 30th 

Taking place in Downtown Vancouver at Concord Pacific Place, the Aurora Winter Festival allows you to escape to a place of festive spirit and magical winter experiences. The festival includes a hidden village by the North Pole, Christmas light displays, amusement rides, food gardens, a tube park, a skating river, and much more!

2. Free Ice Skating at Robson Square

Date: December 1st – February 28th 

Named one of Vancouver’s most popular winter activities, ice skating at Robson is a great time for everyone in the family. Welcome to all levels of skaters, with free drop-ins and $5 for skate and helmet rentals. They’re also open on Christmas Eve and day!

3. Winter Wonderland on the Mountains

Date: November – on wards

Vancouver is known for its winter activities, and the mountains are just a Modo ride away! Or, fill your empty seats with Poparide and earn cash! Hit the slopes at one of the many nearby mountains – Grouse, Seymour, Cypress, or Whistler. There’s a variety of trails perfect for skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing, or tubing.

4. Vancouver Christmas Market

Date: November 21st – December 23rd

The Vancouver Christmas Market, also known as the German Christmas Market, is an authentic outdoor experience located at Jack Poole Plaza (at the Olympic Cauldron) with over 75 vendors. Warm up with home-made apple cider, nibble on delicious gingerbread treats, find the perfect handmade gift, or watch the family friendly entertainment.

5. VanDusen Festival of Lights

Date: December 1st – January 6th

Looking to see some of the most spectacular Christmas lights that Vancouver has to offer? Check out The VanDusen Festival of Lights, perfect for all ages! The outdoor festival is home to dancing lights, photos with Santa, activities for children, holiday snacks, and the perfect place for a family photo op.

6. Hannukah Celebration at the Vancouver Art Gallery

Date: December 6th

The Hannukah Celebration at the Vancouver Art Gallery (VAG) is back! Celebrate the joy of Chanukah with Vancouver’s Jewish community, as they light Canada’s tallest Menorah. Don’t miss out on live music, latkes, hot cocoa, and donuts.

7. Superhero Hannukah on Ice!

Date: December 25th  

Back for the 8th year in a row, Hannukah on Ice is a family friendly ice skate taking place at Hillcrest Community Centre hosted by Chabad East Van. Enjoy a day full of fun, donuts, dreidels, gelt and festive music!

8. Holidays at Lafarge

Date: November 24th – January 20th

Lower Mainland’s largest free outdoor lights display is back! Taking place at Lafarge Lake in Town Centre Park, this outdoor extrgavance features hundreds of thousands of lights, live entertainment, food trucks, and family crafts. Dogs are welcome too.
