Director of Finance
We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Director of Finance to join our Senior Leadership Team and help drive the financial vision and long-term sustainability of Modo.
As a Director of Finance, you will oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance, and strategic planning. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage the day-to-day financial activities while contributing to high-level decision-making. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of navigating complex financial environments.
This role is a permanent, full-time position, hybrid, with a minimum of one day working from our Vancouver Downtown office.

Salary Range: $120,000 – $140,000 per annum.
What you will do
- Lead the development and execution of financial strategies to support organizational goals.
- Oversee all aspects of financial management including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and reporting.
- Prepare and present timely and accurate financial reports to the executive team, board of directors, and other stakeholders.
- Manage financial planning processes and provide strategic guidance on revenue growth, cost management, and risk mitigation.
- Support the development of meaningful operational and financial metrics to enhance data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Support contract review processes and provide cost analysis to help teams make informed decisions.
- Partner with other departments to develop financial models and business cases for new initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax filings, and internal policies.
- Lead annual audits and liaise with external auditors and consultants as needed.
- Develop and maintain internal control policies, procedures, and systems.
- Supervise and mentor finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with external professionals (i.e. fractional legal and privacy advisors) as needed.
What we are looking for
- 8+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a senior finance role within a small or med-sized organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- A Canadian CPA designation.
- Expertise in financial management, strategic planning, and corporate governance.
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, financial modeling, and reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems such as Sage50.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong leadership skills with a history of leading and developing a high-performing finance team, with a focus on collaboration, accountability, and continuous development.
- Track record to streamline processes, enhance operational efficiency, and implement financial best practices.
- Experience working directly with a Board of Directors, including preparation and presentation of financial materials.
- A critical thinker who is detail-oriented, highly adaptable with a collaborative and grounded approach.
- Commitment to integrity, transparency, and respectful engagement in all professional interactions.
