Director of Product
We have an opportunity for a Director of Product to join our Leadership Team.
Modo is evolving how we deliver shared mobility — from a legacy system to a product-led, member-focused experience. As our Director of Product, you will lead this shift.
Reporting to the CEO, this role owns the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring that we create real value for members and the co-op. You will work closely with Technology, Operations, and Marketing to translate strategy into focused, iterative delivery. You will lead a small, high-impact team and help build the product discipline, clarity, and momentum needed for Modo’s next phase.
This is a permanent, full-time position, based in Vancouver, BC, with a hybrid work environment. While we support working from home, we require our team to work a minimum of one day per week from our downtown office.
At Modo, we value curiosity, collaboration, and commitment to doing meaningful work, and we are excited to welcome someone who shares those values.
If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you!
Salary Range: $123,000 - $138,000 per year.
What you will do:
Product Strategy & Direction
- Define and evolve Modo’s product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
- Ensure alignment with organizational priorities, OKRs, and member needs.
- Identify and prioritize the most impactful opportunities across the member journey.
- Bring an informed external perspective on shared mobility, urban systems and emerging trends.
Product Discovery & Execution
- Lead product discovery (user research, testing, validation) with a pragmatic, test-and-learn approach.
- Validate ideas before scaling and avoid over-engineered solutions.
- Own the roadmap, ensuring clear prioritization, sequencing, and communication.
- Be accountable for outcomes, not just delivery, and step in to unblock, refocus and reprioritize when needed.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment
- Lead, coach and develop a small team, building strong product practices and ways of working.
- Ensure Product connects teams and drives aligned decision-making.
- Act as a strategic partner to:
- Operations (service delivery realities)
- Marketing (growth, engagement, positioning)
- Technology (feasibility, architecture, delivery)
- CEO (strategy, prioritization, trade-offs).
Product Performance & Leadership Contribution
- Define and track product KPIs (activation, bookings, retention, etc.).
- Use data and member insight to identify problems, prioritize improvements and measure impact.
- Represent Product at the Leadership Team, clearly articulating trade-offs and priorities.
- Advocate for decisions grounded in member value and business impact.
What we are looking for:
- 5–8+ years in product management experience, including people leadership.
- Proven ownership of product strategy and end-to-end delivery.
- Experience in shared mobility, transportation, urban tech, hospitality, or other access-based service models (required).
- Proven ability to lead and develop individuals and teams, setting clear expectations and driving accountability.
- Experience leading or coaching others in formal or informal settings.
- Someone who is comfortable setting clear direction while also rolling up sleeves to drive execution.
- Strong understanding of how product decisions connect to operations, real-world constraints, and user/member behaviour.
- Experience working on products that combine digital experience with real-world service delivery is highly valued
- Data-informed decision maker who can analyse and interpret data to guide strategy.
- Deep expertise in product discovery, prioritization, and delivery.
- Experience building pragmatic processes and structure without unnecessary complexity.
- Strong communicator who can influence, challenge constructively, and collaborate across functions.
- Someone who can handle unclear situations, gets started without overthinking, and keeps improving along the way.
- A collaborative leader aligned with Modo’s mission and values, bringing curiosity, and a practical mindset.
Bonus points if you:
- Experience with B2G2C or B2B.
- Have a good sense of humour.
- Bright, curious and open-minded.
- Strong interest in the co-op environment, carsharing, or social purpose organizations.
