World Cup 2026 in Vancouver & what Modo Members Need to Know

In Summer 2026, World Cup 2026 is coming to Vancouver, with seven matches hosted at BC Place. The city is expecting more than 350,000 visitors from around the world. As exciting as this is, increased traffic and road closures are expected, especially in and around downtown Vancouver and False Creek.

Road Closures & What to Expect

To safely support an event of this scale, there will be:
         Temporary road closures
“Local traffic only” zones around BC Place and False Creek
           Increased congestion on match days

The tournament period will run from mid-May to the end of July 2026, including setup and takedown.

How This Affects Modo

To ensure safe and accessible service during this busy period, Modo is making a few temporary adjustments:

1) Vehicle Location Changes

Vehicles currently located in the areas affected by closures will be temporarily moved to three main hubs:

Lot 15 - Olympic Village SkyTrain
Lot 12 - Moberly
Lot 59 - Spyglass @ EasyPark

with some of them spread around Kits, UBC, Mount Pleasant, and Burnaby area.

These will serve as temporary home locations from mid May to mid July 2026.

2) Extra Member Care Support

We understand that unexpected situations can happen during large events. If you experience any issues such as traffic delays or difficulty returning your vehicle due to road closures, please contact Modo. Our Member Care team will be happy to support you and help find the best solution. (The earlier you get in touch with us, the better!)
